**FILLED** Senior Development Executive for EDS

The EDS Development Executive is responsible for developing and implementing strategies for identification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and managing relationships with corporations, and corporate foundations to support the mission of BLOCS. The EDS Development Executive will create and implement a plan to build sustainable and engaged partnerships, and directly enhance BLOCS’ reputation among donors, as well as impacting the financial and operational performance of the organization.

Summary:

For over forty years, Business Leadership Organized for Catholic Schools, (BLOCS), has been committed to providing eligible pre-K, grade school, high school, and special education students access to high-quality, values-based, Catholic education as an alternative to their local public school.

Viewed as the premiere scholarship organization in PA, BLOCS partners with more than 100 Archdiocesan schools and more than 300 private Catholic and non-Catholic schools to provide over 17,000 need-based scholarships each year. Through partnership with Pennsylvania’s Department of Community and Economic

Development’s Educational Improvement (EITC) and Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit (OSTC) Programs, we offer donors up to 90% credits on their Pennsylvania taxes when redirecting their personal or corporate tax liability as scholarship donations through BLOCS.

More than 96 cents of every dollar donated to BLOCS is distributed directly to families through our partner schools. We award tuition assistance to as many children – of any religion – as possible. Our work will continue until every family who desires a value-based Catholic education can afford one.

Position Description:

The EDS Development Executive is responsible for developing and implementing strategies for identification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and managing relationships with corporations, and corporate foundations to support the mission of BLOCS. The EDS Development Executive will create and implement a plan to build sustainable and engaged partnerships, and directly enhance BLOCS’ reputation among donors, as well as impacting the financial and operational performance of the organization.  

Essential functions and core responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Corporate & Foundations Leadership

  • Develop and implement a corporate partnerships strategy to increase EDS funding to BLOCS and position the organization as the premier scholarship leader across the State.

  • Partner with organization leadership to set and monitor annual EDS fundraising goals.

  • Strategize, oversee, and manage the corporate cultivation and stewardship efforts for current and potential partners.

  • Secure corporate support at BLOCS events that moves from transactional relationships to collaborative relationships.

  • Support all corporate giving efforts, including special event sponsors, program sponsors, event and civic engagement sponsorships, corporate foundation giving, cause marketing, and general corporate support.

  • Collaborate with BLOCS leadership to create strategies to identify and secure new corporate supporters, fully leverage existing relationships, and increase multi-year commitments.

  • Manage a portfolio of corporate and foundation donors for whom you will be directly responsible to cultivate, solicit, and steward, with expectations to have these donors increase their giving and engagement.

  • Create moves management strategies for direct engagement with corporate prospects and donors primarily via external face-to-face visits and meetings, averaging 20 visits per month.

  • Document and maintain clear and timely records and call reports to track contacts, donor giving, notes, and assist in the maintenance of an accurate donor database.

  • Support the fundraising efforts of the Chief Executive Officer in securing new and renewed gifts.

With the CEO, create and manage organizational budget; track and report on progress to goal to CEO and CFO including gifts, pledges, and prospects.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Minimum five years’ corporate donor level experience in sales, fundraising, or other relationship management with a proven record of meeting and exceeding goals.

  • Experience building and implementing sales and cultivation strategies with corporate donors.

  • Ability to translate complex model elements and program ideas into compelling and accessible proposals and pitches.

  • Excellent written, oral, and organizational skills; high level of attention to detail.

  • Ability to work the flexible hours demanded of a deadline-driven position.

  • Ability to adapt and excel in diverse, high energy, entrepreneurial, and rapidly changing environments.
