Tom Shoemaker

President, Cristo Rey Philadelphia High School


Tom Shoemaker is the President & CEO of Cristo Rey Philadelphia High School, a private college prep school exclusively serving low income families in the Philadelphia and Camden area. Tom first got involved with Cristo Rey in 2013 as a Work Study partner, an innovative  program where corporate partners help  students earn a portion of their tuition by working with them one day per week. Tom deepened his engagement in the school in 2016 when he led TD Bank’s bridge loan for the school’s beautiful new campus at 17th & Allegheny and in 2018 when he joined the board. Tom started in his role as President & CEO in early 2022. He and the leadership team work with dedicated Donors, Work-Study Partners. Volunteers, and a highly committed staff and Board of Trustees to provide the educational opportunity students deserve. They are proud of the incredible results the Cristo Rey team,  students and their families have created: 100% College Acceptance for every graduating class and a college graduation rate that is almost 5x better than the students’ socio-economic peers. Cristo Rey graduates can now be found as full time employees at leading companies in the area putting their values of community -mindedness, diligence and purposeful growth to work for their company and their community.

Prior to joining Cristo Rey, Tom spent 35 years in the Financial Services Industry where he held numerous leadership positions in  Banking and Equipment Finance. Tom’s last 21 years were spent at TD Bank where he led one of the bank’s largest markets as thee  PA Market President and prior to that was President of the Bank’s Equipment Finance subsidiary.

Tom lives with his wife Joanie and their five children in Garnet Valley, Pa. When he is not working or spending time with his family, Tom proudly serves as the Board Chair of the Greater Philadelphia YMCA and the Riverfront Alliance of Delaware County along with serving as an Executive Committee Member for BLOCS.
