Scholarships
A high quality Catholic education should be available to students throughout the Archdiocese, regardless of ability to pay.
Business Leadership Organized for Catholic Schools (BLOCS) raises scholarship funds for income qualified students attending elementary and secondary schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Each year, as a result of the generosity of our donors, thousands of children receive scholarship support to attend these excellent schools.
BLOCS works within the State of Pennsylvania EITC guidelines and uses an outside scholarship administrator to determine eligibility for scholarship grants. While funds for scholarship support have increased over the past several years, so has the demand, which continues to significantly exceed supply. As a result, filing of an application and payment of application fee does not in any way guarantee the awarding of a BLOCS scholarship.
The application period for the 2009-2010 school year has passed. Each January, a current application will be posted on the BLOCS website. These applications are the official application and are available online only. Completed applications should be sent to Private School Aid Service (PSAS). Please do not send applications or documentation to the BLOCS Office or the Archdiocese. Doing so will delay the processing of your application.
Questions regarding the processing of your application or required documentation should be directed to PSAS at 1 (800) 722-2577 or you may visit their website at www.psas.org.
Under the Pennsylvania EITC guidelines, families with one child and a household income of $60,000 or less qualify. An income allowance of $10,000 is given for each additional child and dependent member of the household.
