You’re
Invited to the CHOICE Event of the Year!
REACH Foundation to Host Inaugural Champions of Choice Awards
Dinner
HARRISBURG,
PA – It’s time to honor the people that have helped
make school choice in Pennsylvania what it is today. The REACH
(Road to Educational Achievement through Choice) Foundation is
hosting its inaugural awards dinner with that goal in mind. On
Thursday, September 27, 2007 at the Marriott in Philadelphia,
REACH will be celebrating the contributions these honorees have
made to the movement.
In 1955, Nobel
laureate Dr. Milton Friedman introduced to the nation the idea
of school vouchers. He thought that a child’s education
should not be determined by zip-code or financial status. Years
later, we are still fighting this battle. In Pennsylvania, the
battle continues, though we have made giant steps forward with
charter schools, cyber-charter schools, homeschooling and the
Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) Program.
This inaugural
event will recognize those who “perform like Champions of
Choice” for the children of Pennsylvania. REACH is hosting
the event for three main reasons: to gather those supportive of
the school choice movement and recognize its initial successes;
to honor those visionary leaders who set us on the correct path
to educational freedom; and to celebrate the concept of parental
control in a child’s education.
Thanks to
the generosity of our top sponsor, Pennsylvania Manufacturers’
Association, there will be a special VIP reception held where
attendees will be able to meet several families that partnered
with REACH this year to tell their stories of school choice through
the Visions of Choice Campaign. These families have spent months
helping REACH put a face to the true meaning of school choice
in Pennsylvania. REACH would like to extend a thank you to all
of our other Champions of Choice event sponsors as well: the Milton
& Rose D. Friedman Foundation, Beneficial Savings Bank, BRAVO
Educational Foundation and the Business Leadership Organized for
Catholic Schools (BLOCS).
Tickets for
the event are still available, so please consider joining us as
we honor Pennsylvania’s foremost champions of school choice.
