BLOCS
to Host Annual Fundraising Gala
Business Leadership
Organized for Catholic Schools (BLOCS) will host its annual fundraising
gala to benefit Catholic school students. Cardinal Justin Rigali,
Archbishop of Philadelphia, will lead the gala and Most Reverend
Joseph P. McFadden, Auxiliary Bishop of Philadelphia, will deliver
the invocation.

Latricia
Whitfield, a senior from John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls' High
School, and Eric Banecker, a senior from Roman Catholic High School
for Boys, will emcee the evening's festivities. Students from
Archbishop Ryan School for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children and
Saint Lucy Day School for Children with Visual Impairments will
recite the special education prayer. A student from Sacred Heart
Parish School (South Philadelphia) will sing the National Anthem.
Entertainment
for the gala will be provided by Catholic school students including
the Archdiocesan High School Brass Ensemble and String Quartet,
Kennedy-Kenrick Catholic High School Dinner Theater Group and
the Archdiocesan Bicentennial Choir, which will sing a preview
of the musical selections from the Archdiocese of Philadelphia
Pilgrimage to the National Shrine.
BLOCS, now
under the direction of Deacon John K. Hunter, is committed to
raising financial assistance for families that wish to provide
their children with a value-based, Catholic education, regardless
of race, religion, or nationality.
Former BLOCS
Chairman H.F. (Gerry) Lenfest, a philanthropist and President
and Chief Executive Officer of The Lenfest Group, will introduce
Michael G. O'Neill, Chief Executive Officer of Preferred Real
Estate Investments, Inc., as the new BLOCS chairman.
